Darkness Divine

We will meet as a group each week in February with Reverend Kristen Harper of the Barnstable Unitarian Church, and author of the book “Darkness Divine.” We will be referencing her book, and you can purchase a copy at uuabookstore.org but it is not required for meaningful participation and discussion.

Too often in U.S. Culture , a culture of racism is reinforced in damaging but unexamined ways. Using the book the Darkness Divine, we will unpack the language, imagery, buzzwords and cultural touchstones that demean and dehumanize Black people. Through this course, participants will be asked to reflect on their own thinking and assumptions and to transform some of the preconceptions and misconceptions.
