A Pilgrimage to Iona, Scotland
A Women’s Retreat
Awakening to Ancient Wisdom and Wonder
September 12 – 20, 2025
Your pilgrim guides: Anne Bonney, Dawn Tolley and Bonnie Fedge
You are invited to join us in beloved community on the sacred isle of Iona – a ‘thin place’ that has been a pilgrimage site for over fifteen hundred years…a place that calls pilgrims from all over the world to come find rest, renewal and replenishment. Our days will be grounded in reflective gathering and infused with opportunities for listening to what is calling us, allowing us to discover the ancient wisdom that surrounds us and the wisdom deep within our own hearts.
IMAGINE…
Standing at the edge of the sea amongst ancient Iona rocks some 2.5 billion years old…
Witnessing magical light and mist that dramatically color the island landscape as you gently traverse rolling hills, wander amongst friendly sheep, and breathe in fresh Scottish air…
Walking the labyrinth on the shore of Columba’s Bay…
Hiking to the isle’s highest point – Dun I, the hill of Iona, to experience majestic views of the Inner Hebrides…
Slowing down to sync into the natural rhythms of the land, the day, the night…
Being in community with fellow pilgrims from across the globe and the open invitation to evening candlelit services at Iona Abbey…
Exploring Celtic spirituality in the context of landscape, heritage, art, and contemplation…
Gathering for a welcoming circle at ancient nunnery ruins…
Unscheduled time where you might meditate, draw, listen to the waves, enjoy daily afternoon tea and scones, shop at the local artisan shop and galleries…
Our time together begins in the seaside village of Oban on Friday Sept. 12. Please arrange your travel to arrive in Glasgow on the morning of September 12th, then make your way by bus or train to spend the night in Oban. We are happy to offer assistance with this part of the planning! We will continue the journey together to Iona on Saturday by ferry with a private guided tour across the Isle of Mull, arriving on Iona in time for dinner. We will spend the entire week on Iona, checking out of the St. Columba Hotel on Saturday, September 20. Please note it takes a full day to travel from Iona to Glasgow airport, so you may consider staying overnight near the airport and arranging your return flight or any other further travel for September 21.
