Adding light hand weights to your yoga practice can help to boost lean muscle mass while supporting heart and bone health! \nThis class will be offered hybrid. If you are joining us in person\, please bring your own weights. We will have a limited selection of hand weights for use at the Center. The addition of weights is optional and the practice will be effective regardless! \nMichele Insley\, E-RYT 500\, will be teaching Kripalu Yoga. This all-levels gentle hatha yoga class is taught in the tradition of Kripalu Yoga\, known as the “yoga of compassion.” This style of yoga is accessible to everyone and every-body. It places an emphasis on meditation\, physical healing\, and spiritual transformation that overflows from the yoga mat into daily life. Postures and breath are used to release tension\, stretch\, and strengthen the body and cultivate overall physical health and mental wellness. Each class ends with time for relaxation. \nMichele’s primary training is through the Kripalu Center for Yoga and Health where she is certified at the 500-hour level. She has over 4000 teaching hours and is considered an ‘experienced teacher’. She is devoted to her yoga studies and continues her education in yoga asana (the physical practice) as well as yogic philosophy and history\, and the “deeper practices” of yoga. DESCRIPTION:Yoga for Strength\nSaturdays\, May 3 – June 7\nNo class May 17\n9:00 – 10:00 am\nwith Michele Insley \nOn Zoom and In-person\nIn-person drop in fee $20\nIn-Person Series fee $108 for 6 classes (good for 6 months)\nZoom class fee $10 – Zoom series fee $60 \nEnhance the benefits of your yoga practice this spring in a special three week series\, Yoga for Strength.  \nLonger holds and light weights will be added to familiar yoga poses to increase strength\, improve balance and flexibility. Adding light hand weights to your yoga practice can help to boost lean muscle mass while supporting heart and bone health! \nThis class will be offered hybrid. If you are joining us in person\, please bring your own weights. We will have a limited selection of hand weights for use at the Center. The addition of weights is optional and the practice will be effective regardless! \nMichele Insley\, E-RYT 500\, will be teaching Kripalu Yoga. This all-levels gentle hatha yoga class is taught in the tradition of Kripalu Yoga\, known as the “yoga of compassion.” This style of yoga is accessible to everyone and every-body. It places an emphasis on meditation\, physical healing\, and spiritual transformation that overflows from the yoga mat into daily life. Postures and breath are used to release tension\, stretch\, and strengthen the body and cultivate overall physical health and mental wellness. Each class ends with time for relaxation. \nMichele’s primary training is through the Kripalu Center for Yoga and Health where she is certified at the 500-hour level. She has over 4000 teaching hours and is considered an ‘experienced teacher’. She is devoted to her yoga studies and continues her education in yoga asana (the physical practice) as well as yogic philosophy and history\, and the “deeper practices” of yoga. DESCRIPTION:April 15\, 2025\n7:00 – 9:00 PM \nJoin David Roth as we welcome year 20 of the “Full Moon Open Mic” – here at the Center for the Spiritual Journey! We’ll gather to sing\, speak\, regale\, and reaffirm the beauty of organic and authentic community talent. \nSign up opens at 6:30pm. \nThe Full Moon Open Mic (FMOM) began on December 21st\, 2005 at the Eldia Market and Coffeehouse in Orleans. David Roth wanted to offer a forum for local musicians\, poets\, storytellers\, and artists where each would have an opportunity to be heard in a respectful and attentive environment. The FMOM is now in it’s 19th year\, and though the event is absolutely free\, a voluntary donation bucket is put out for a local non-profit every time. As a result of this we’ve received nearly $17\,000 for more than 50 organizations over the years\, and we’re thrilled to come to Chatham for the first time to continue our journey! www.davidrothmusic.com \nOrleans resident David Roth is a singer\, songwriter\, and recording artist who has taken his songs\, experience\, and expertise to a wide variety of venues in this and other countries full-time for more than three decades. His work has found its way to Carnegie Hall\, the United Nations\, several Chicken Soup for the Soul books\, the Kennedy Center\, Peter\, Paul\, & Mary and Kingston Trio CDs\, NASA’s Goddard Space Center (his song “Rocket Science” sailed on the space shuttle Atlantis in 2009)\, the Rise Up Singing and Rise Again (sequel) songbooks\, the Kerrville (TX) New Folk Award\, and 15 CDs on the Wind River and Stockfisch (Germany) labels. The former artist-in-residence at New York’s Omega Institute has been on many of Christine Lavin’s seminal Rounder Records compilations\, and has also taught singing\, songwriting\, and performance at many music camps around the country. David serves as Executive Director for SummerSongs Songwriting Camp (NY) and is also creator of the Cape Cod Songwriters Retreat and the Cape’s Full Moon Open Mic which since 2005 has provided a forum for musicians to connect and be heard while at the same time collecting donations (nearing $17\,000 to date) for local non-profits to help neighbors in need.

Grounding has been shown to have a myriad of benefits for every system in the body. In this class we will focus on creating a conscious relationship with the Earth by becoming more aware of our bodies in space and in balance. This will help you have more confidence in walking\, moving and reduce the fear of falling. \nDuring the four classes Carol will teach a series of exercises and meditations that will be easily repeatable in 20 minutes. You will be given an illustrated pamphlet that can be used to help you continue the practice. \nCarol has studied with Elaine Summers in Kinetic Awareness and Body Awareness\, has a master’s degree in Dance/Movement Therapy\, and has a continuing personal practice of yoga and Qigong. \nFill out my LGL Form!

It is so easy to become upended by the constant\nbarrage of news\, watching our beloved democracy being torn apart in a torrent of actions by the\ncurrent administration. More than ever these are times during which we need to take excellent\ncare of ourselves\, body\, mind and spirit\, to stay grounded\, and to strengthen our commitments\nto our communities and our country.  It is an excellent time to become engaged in whatever kind\nof positive action suits you.\nWe will consider a list of organizations that are engaged in positive actions. There are more surfacing all the time in many different arenas. MoveOn had an excellent suggestion: choose one or two that serve areas that are of particular interest to you.
